A Raw Rock Christmas - Vote for the official album cover!

Postby JWat » Sun Nov 07, 2010 12:40 pm

Ho ho ho! Merry Remembrance Day!
Every year, the RawRockMilitia hosts a Christmas compilation of songs by other users. And every year, everybody completely forgets about it and the project fails miserably. Let's keep the tradition alive! Here is Wreck The Halls: A Raw Rock Christmas.

Prizes!
Wait, there's prizes now? YEAH! Incentive!
Unregistered users that submit either a song or a piece of artwork to us will have the opportunity to receive a free registration here on the RRM - including access to Showbread's exclusives section.
But wait! There's more!
ANYBODY (both members and non-members) that submits a song will be given the chance at a $10 iTunes Gift Card! There are two cards to give out, so two people will get an iTunes card for Christmas, from Izzi and myself.
We haven't worked out the details just yet, so I'm not sure if there will be a vote or if there will be a random draw, but we'll let you know asap.

Voting for the title is over. The title for this year's Christmas album is:
Wreck The Halls: A Raw Rock Christmas.

ALBUM ART!
Voting is now closed, and here is the album art for this year's Raw Rock Christmas:
Image
Designed by Seth Thompson, aka PaperweightHarmonica! Huge thanks to the other three members that designed album art: Hannah Bielitz (aka screamsky), Joshua Gilley (aka Gilley234), and MacDawn (sorry I'm not sure your real name). I'll be emailing you all over the next little bit.

Expect an announcement regarding the album shortly. There's a few cool things about it.

In short, the Showboard Christmas Album is a collection of songs that are sung/played/composed/recorded by none other than: YOU! All songs share a common theme: Christmas! They can be covers, re-imaginings of other songs, or your own original. The songs do not have to be Jesus oriented, however, they have to be appropriate. Nothing obscene, please.
Also, you do NOT have to be a member of the Militia to participate - anybody can contribute. Guests and lurkers, rejoice! After the deadline, Izzi and myself will choose a few unregistered entries to win a free account on the RawRockMilitia!

All entries can be emailed to jeremy@rawrockmilitia.com. Be sure to attach the song or a link to download (in highest possible quality - uncompressed, lossless audio is the way to go), and include the following:
Code: Select all
Your Name:
Username: (if unregistered, type unregistered)
Credit: (name or band you are releasing this under)
Song Title:
Genre:
Additional Info:
If this is something that interests you, please reply here or @reply us on Twitter to let us know. This is not a commitment, this is simply to get an idea of who plans to contribute something.

We've passed the submission deadline. Shortly, the compilation will be released for free download. I'll still accept song submissions up until the album is actually released, so get them into me as soon as possible! Woo!
Let's see your holiday spirit!

That would be cool to do, but I don't have decent enough equipment to get a good quality sound and I don't play any instruments so it would suck lol

Yeah I realized that after my first post but I didn't want to look like an idiot that has to correct himself. I chose to look like an idiot who doesn't know what songs mean instead.

I might do one if I had anything better than a built-in laptop microphone to record with.

Well that's probably what I'll be using, unless I want to multitrack with my iPhone voice recorder.

i use the internal mic on my laptop and it doesn't sound terrible (until i make it sound terrible with too much echo and whatnot).

it's all about compressors, EQ and confidence.

I'm guessing most of these will be recorded on laptops and such. I don't think anyone with the exception of josh has access to a studio.
