Christian Movies

Postby HunterBrown » Wed Apr 27, 2011 8:32 pm

Most christian movies have seen are sugarcoated, cheesy, and predictable.
However, there have been few that I've actually enjoyed.
Anyone else want to share some that they liked or ones to stay away from?

this one. based on someone's account of visiting hell for awhile. if there is another Christian movie that's not afraid to show hell, i don't know of it.

Six: The Mark Unleashed
it was kinda cheesy and stuff, but over all probly the best Christian movie I've ever seen. Think Left Behind but done better and grittier.

Clicking that link was worth it just to read the description.
Viewer discretion is advised as this movie presents a very worldly atmosphere, a brief sequence in "hell", and is aimed at a secular audience or very lukewarm group.

I love that you can tell the person writing the description didn't really care for it. I love the phrase "very worldly atmosphere" too.

haha i know. it's the kind of movie that won't sit well with religious and/or conservative people.

and ya book of eli rules. basically any "Christian" movie that's any good is not exclusively made by Christian studios...it has to be made by a secular production with some Christian messages/morals in it, like eli.

I'm taking a class called "Jesus, the Gospels, and Film." Basically we've gone over a lot of popular movies and have looked at "Christ-figures" in the films. Like Neo in The Matrix. Superman in Superman. Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. Luke in Cool Hand Luke. This kind of stuff. Would these be considered "Christian Movies?" They definitely have Christian themes and stories, even though they are not always up front about it.

It's pretty cool to see just how many Christ figures there are in secular movies. For our final project, we have to come up with a basic plot outline of a movie with a Christ figure in it. My group is doing a zombie movie (of course) and we're filming a trailer. I'll post it when we finish it.

That's awesome! Is a zombie going to be the Christ figure?
I end up doing that with books and I read music I listen to as well.

The Christ figure will be a zombie at some point in the film. Basically the idea is there's an ex-con and his scientist friend. The ex-con is trying to redeem himself in his eyes for what he's done by helping the scientist try to find a cure for the virus. Along the way he finds people and helps them and at one point, he sacrifices himself for a small group of people and becomes a zombie. A day or so later, the scientist develops a cure and they are able to bring him back.

The whole Christ thing is extremely blatant, but it'll get us a better grade.

i like some christian movies that are directly based on the bible, passion of the christ, navitity story, etc. fireproof is probably not just my least favorite christian movie, but probably my least favorite movie in general.

Fireproof had a good message, was encouraging, and all that good stuff. The acting was terrible and the script was really cheesy. I can cut them some slack because it was just a large group of people who decided to make the movie and it was really low budget, I guess. But you cannot pay me enough money to watch another Kirk Cameron movie.

Christian schools are the worst. I'm so glad my family was too poor to send me to the christian high school.

The coolest people are.

I beg to differ.
90% of homeschooled kids I know are sheltered, snobby, arrogant and extremely immature. That's why I always hang out with other . . . . nicer kids. :P
