The Harry Potter Thread

Postby HunterBrown » Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:19 pm

I know there has to be some Harry Potter freaks out here. (I happen to be on be them.)
Recently I've noticed a lot of different metaphors in the Harry potter world that represent a lot of Christ and his teachings.
So, I thought it'd be a cool thing to discuss on here.

For one, in the second book Dumbledore says something to Harry, "It is our actions, not our abilities, that prove who we really are."

I also thought that Peter Pettigrew reminded me a little of Judas.

P.S. I request a Harry Potter smily on here, hence this was the closest thing I could find. -> :geek:

Yeah, but it just so happens that Harry Potter is probably the best book series in the world.
And also from what I've heard and seen, J.K. Rowling purposely put the metaphors in there.

she did purposefully put metaphores there, i wouldn't say it's the best book series but it's really good. i think i like chronicles of narnia more.

I actually didn't really enjoy that series.
I'm really sorry, so many people say it's really good, I just never liked them.
I love his other books though.

dems fightin words boy. Lord of the Rings is literally the best series evar. literally. Tolkien describes eating food for 100+ pages and the whole time i was like "tell me more! i have never been more entertained!" Rowling aint got doody on the greats.

i didn't like how long it took tolkien to describe simple things. i like the hobbit a lot and the lord of the rings movies are some of my favorite movies though.

Thread about Harry Potter, ends up being about Tolkien...

I'm listening to the audio book of The Philosopher's Stone read by Stephen Fry currently. Just saying.

My dad commented the other day that it's a little strange that Harry has a godfather.

I'm pretty much not saying anything of use right now. I'm sleepy.
"Love can rebuild the world, they say, so everything's possible when it comes to love."

"I am nobody; I have nothing to do with explosions."

Fix'd.
Stupid "Sorcerer's Stone." Big bag of wrong.

Also, I shook Stephen Fry's hand once. And I'm pretty sure I've told you all that about ten times, but I enjoy saying it =]
