poems!

Postby charis » Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:35 am

share them! i like poems. sometimes i try to write them. here's one i wrote about two years ago:

I asked the grass
“how do you grow?”
the grass replied
“with the help of snow”

I sought to find
a patch of snow
to ask it how
it helped grass grow

I climbed the highest mountain top
in order to converse with snow
the snow remarked, “I melt away
and end up in the lakes and rain”

I looked up to the great blue sky
“please tell me clouds, I have to know
why do you cry?”

the clouds replied
“in order to bring forth new life”

Oh oh poetry!

Sing, sing, sing, like you never sang before.
Till your lungs burst, and your laying on the floor.
Sing for the dead, sing for the living.
Sing for greed, sing for giving.
I'll write a song, About how you're gone.
I'm your last hero,
Your last resort.
Running low on ammo,
Never gonna abort.
Sing, sing, sing.

Never forget,
The day I let,
The dogs of war,
Settle the score,
With who?
You.

Sing, singing, sang.
Father, you inspire me to sing to you.

I used to write. I wasn't very good at it, and I stopped having things to write about. So I don't anymore.

Oh, so do I.
But in a recent interview he was like, "I'm not mad about anything right now, my life is pretty good. So I don't have anything to write about anymore."

I write poems before they become songs. This is one called "The Weekly Forecast"

Suffocating in my bones
Its hard to call this home
A parasite is hard to identify
When it's not known.

I yearn
I ache
I wake
I shake
This earth crushing marrow
Hospitalized and then televised
You must be prepared all the time
I yearn I ache I wake I shake I break.

Stop and think!
Before you ask me that nothing question
Don't try to sympathize
Unless you realize
What I am missing

Fall to the depths with me
And together we'll break our bones
Holding each other up
We will make it through the rough

Walking side by side
Crushing the thrown stones
Traversing the narrow
We are worth more than sparrows.

If my heart gives out
Will yours finally give in?
Will you accept the existence of sin?
Talk is cheap
And I've seen your dreams
Or lack of there of
Sleep tonight
Don't think of me
Just know you are loved

I continue to wander the streets
Aimlessly I'll end up next to you
Not because of what I've done
But what He will do.

"Once upon a blue moon."
I heard those words long ago...
It was high noon,
Couldn't see it then dontcha know.

I always thought I'd never amount to anything.
Just another wasted life in this wasteful town.
But things are different, they're going to change, and I'm going to sing,
About how our troubles never kept us down.

Cause I had you and you had me.
And now, now you can see,
the full moon looming down on us.
Baby, stop making such a fuss,

We are going to change the world.
Sit on the moon, galaxies are twirled
Before our eyes, I can see through the lies.
We'll paint the moon blue,
So the world will remember,
What was said to you,
On that day before November.

They will remember we changed the world, upon a blue moon,
And they will know anything can happen, and happen soon.
We don't have to accept what's wrong,
You can rise up and sing this song.

And come join me, we'll turn the moon blue.
Rock the world and "I love you"s

YOU can be the change. Don't worry about what they say.
Just be different, lead a movement, it doesn't matter what they say
We'll paint the moon blue. And all they said doesn't matter anyway.
This world is yours for the taking. If you believe it to be true, you can turn back a nation.
But it's gonna take more then picket signs and meditation.

Never let them talk you down, keep your face free of frown.
Don't be afraid to act like a fool, and never be afraid to break a rule.
Go be crazy, and never be lazy.
This is your world, your life, get twirled, through strife.
And one day you'll see the blue moon, and remember,
That beautiful day before November,
"I changed the world, upon a blue moon."
Father, you inspire me to sing to you.

here's one of mine:

Nearly Dry

It pulls along the incredible weight
of the shell on its back.
With no way of speeding up
it just keeps on going.
It almost blends in with the cement.
The slime it leaves behind will soon be dry.

It (I hate calling something it)
nears the end of the step.
Miraculously, it edges along the
vertical section of the step, slowly.
Slowly making its way.
The sidewalk is ever so near.

Slowly, the creature begins
to caress another step.
This is the last before the sidewalk.
Its goal is so close,
but still an hour away.
The sidewalk is ever so near.

There’s a (giant) step.
It shakes the ground under its belly.
It is picked up by a grimy little (large) hand.
White particles, like a burning snow
softly destroy its skin. It feels pain.
The slime it leaves behind will soon be dry.

you must hate snails!

i wrote this:

the threads of my heart,
unravelled by lust,
follow the needles
that they've grown to trust.

desires entangle;
destruction still weaves.
the needles work quickly
to bind and deceive.

three needles secure Him.
still bound by the string,
i fashion a crown
of barbed wire for my King.

allow me, dear Father,
to enter Your rest.
the threads of my heart
long for Your holiness.

I wish I had the amazing skill to write good poems other than the silly Haiku. I have not idea how to translate these ideas down onto paper though. D:

here's a couple more:

Insolitus Ego Sum

If I were to fall from this altitude, I would not survive
But my mind leaves this place and moves my eyes to focus on the picture:
Green
Brown and
Blue

While I am not afraid of Falling, I understand that the “dust” would be
-That is, if “dust” felt fear.
It would fall from the metal foul onto rough Green leaves
and Brown dirt.

There is no “dust” today, the tall man said so.
He places me in a hole on top of the metal foul.
I receive goggles to wear, which are too loose for a two year old cranium
But they are worn anyway

The bird growls louder than a lion.
It picks us up and carries us into the sky.
The Green uniform squares made of corn and soy beans contrast with the uneven White blobs of condensation.
It is the normal vs. the abstract.
I am at home in the sky.

here's the next one:

I'm standing on a large spiral staircase
I may be in a mansion of some sort
A rich person's house either way

There's a huge crystal chandelier
Hanging on what seems to be nothing
as there is no ceiling

Someone else in on the staircase with me
I can not recall his name
He is taller than me, but his voice is much higher pitched

I look up. The staircase never ends.
Its gilded railings are crested with diamonds
which speckle up until i can not see them

The staircase begins to move.
It shoots us up into the heavens
Past the earth's atmosphere and into space.

I can still breath somehow
I know this because I gasped
looking at the moon, which I could almost touch

The chandelier flew with us,
floating in the middle of the spiral.
The starlight refracts through the crystals.

I look at the other person with a look of awe and confusion.
The other guy responds with
"I know! Isn't it great?"
