To those have seen SB's crazier moments

Postby GiraffeInMyThroat » Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:59 pm

Okay, I've seen the pictures online where the band switches instruments, jumps on each other, destroys equipment, Mike starts singing, Garrett starts playing guitar, etc etc etc. To those who have seen moments like this- what the heck goes on? Like is it just noise, or are the playing music, or is it the concert finale?
meh.

As many times as I've seen them (14?), they always seem to not do it when I'm there. The most I've seen them do is on the fear of god tour. Josh and Landon did some rolling over the kick and a cymbal got knocked down. Then Garrett was a tad reckless with the keytar (just dropping it, nothing crazy). Sorry this doesn't really answer your question.

I've only seen Landon get on the drums on TFOG tour but he knew what he was doing, Drew broke a brand new cymbal, Josh got on Mikes shoulders while he was playing and they started playing District 9 trailers.

I went to a YCSY show and mike played some weird riff, patrick was playing the same on bass, landon was making noise, ricky was obliterating his drum set (I got one of the sticks), and josh was behind stage for about 10 minutes, came out and shut off all the amps and said "that's all folks, go home."

I've seen some pretty insane stuff. The best was probably CStone 07 I believe, when they played Age of Reptiles/Age of Insects and then destroyed the keytar and Josh's Mini Moog (I think that's what it is). Basically, they just stomped the keys off. The crazy part, though, was when JG tossed the keytar into the audience after the set. I got close to hanging onto it but I'm too nice.

Also, I saw them play a small show where they played 12 minutes of noise for their "encore". Basically they just did everything from trash the drums to Mike slamming the headstock of his guitar straight into his amp. It was great. I asked Ricky after the show what it was all about and he said it was supposed to be their tribute to Andy Kaufman. Awesome.

trust me, if showbread had a mini moog, they wouldn't destroy it, it was probably a microkorg.

Yeah I saw that picture, it definitely was a MicroKorg. They're pretty cheap with the Korg endorsement so he probably didn't feel too bad doing that. A MiniMoog, on the other hand...

If Showbread destroyed a minimoog, I would literally kill them. Like, you know... end their existence.

At a show of literally like 20 people in some swamp town in LA, Josh attempted to suck helium from a balloon to make his voice high pitched. The result? He could barely scream, let alone sing, for two songs, layed in a quasi fetal position on the floor for the last song, and refused to perform Dead By Dawn (unknown to the concert goers I saw them before that so I got to see it!). Too bad for the kid who bought only No Sir from the merch table.

That reminds me of a story I read about a guy paying 300 bucks to see Jimi Hendrix play only for him to come on stage, smash his guitar, flip off the crowd and leave because he was high.

Oh, just for the record, over the years, I've managed to play (quickly catch a strum/hit) Mike's guitar, Patrick's bass, Matt's guitar, and JG's keytar (and I've had Josh and Tae shove a mic in my face multiple times in the no sir/AoR days). At one show (pre-AoR), they just did a big noise ending of the last song. Matt had his guitar just hanging on his neck at the edge of the stage, so I started to strum it and he just took it off and gave it to me. I had to give it back.
